With the 2023/2024 men’s basketball season nearing its end, the Giants faced off against conference leaders Fresno City College. Fresno City came into the game at the top of the conference standings at 10-2, while the Giants sat at the third seed with a 9-3, behind Columbia College also at 9-3.
The Giants hit the road to Fresno, for a must-win game against the Rams. At the start, both teams were evenly matched. Both sides missed shots for the first couple of minutes of the first half. Finally, #11 Jayden Haire, forward for the Giants, was able to connect to get the Giants on the board.
#10 Jose Cuello got the rhythm going for the Giants with an assist to Haire. Both players connected with three-point shots to create a gap. The first half ended with both teams missing some key shots.
#11 Jaden Haire put up some big numbers for the Giants, finishing the game with 20 points, 9 defensive rebounds, 12 offensive rebounds, and 40 minutes of playtime. Guards Alex Argandar #00, and Jose Cuello, each put up 10 points for the Giants. #23 Jaylon Lee, had an impressive 12 rebounds and 30 minutes of play.
In the end, the Giants came out victorious, beating the Rams 54-43. With this victory, the Giants moved up to 2nd place in the conference and dropped the Rams to the 3rd place. Columbia College was bumped up to 1st place. All three teams sit at a 10-3 record, with only one game remaining.
With a victory in their final game of the season, the Giants have the chance to win the conference title.
