Going into a three-game series, the Giants faced a tough loss in game one against Golden West College. The Giants went into this game with a three-game winning streak.
It was a rocky start in the first two innings with the Giants allowing four runs and not being able to score any. Luckily, the Giants were able to hold the Rustlers for four innings with a strong defense. Pitcher Jerod Smith faced 26 batters and striked out four. In the top of the sixth inning, the Giants brought pitcher Aiden Bryan to relieve Smith. During the bottom of the sixth inning, the Giants defense was on point making it a quick inning three up, three down with short stop Aiden Medina making two of the outs and second baseman Jordan Chairez making the final out of that inning.
Moving their way into the final innings of the game, the Giants allowed four more runs in the top of the seventh inning. After a long game, the Giants were finally able to score in the bottom of the seventh inning with first baseman Walker Selley hitting a single. Chairez stepped up to bat, hitting a single and bringing in Selley which put the Giants on the board. Finishing the game preventing the Rustlers from scoring, the Giants were able to score two more runs in the bottom of the ninth to bring the final score to 8-3.
The Giants have two more games against the Rustlers to make a comeback. This gives you two more chances to go out and cheer on your Giants as they play Friday, February 13th at 1 p.m. and Saturday, February 14th at 12 p.m. Go GIANTS!
