Through the first 10 weeks of the season, the Giants have been very dominant and have looked like the team to beat. When we interviewed Head Football Coach, Matt Mendonca, he said he had recruited the best talent and he wasn’t lying. The Giants record so far is 7-3 with a 3-2 record in league play. In recent years, the Giants defense has been the highlight of the season, but this year it’s been the Giants offense led by first-year starting quarterback, Payton Faker.
Faker has had the most passing yards in all of California JUCO with 2,870 passing yards and top five in passing touchdowns with 24, along with a couple rushing touchdowns. The guys catching these passes from Faker are a three-headed monster with over 600 yards receiving each, Marshel Sanders, Gage Armbruster, and Dontae Gentles; Sanders leads the three with 56 receptions with 763 receiving yards. The Giants rushing attack led by Jahkylle Smith with 460 rushing yards along with five touchdowns.
The Giant’s defense has been solid as they have allowed just 21.9 points per game this season, with 15 interceptions led by defensive back Cassidy Bolong-Banks with five of them. The Giants’ sack leader has been Josiah Harris with 5.5 sacks; he also leads the Giants with 7.5 tackles for loss.
