The College of the Sequoias Women’s soccer team won their first home game of the season against Allan Hancock Tuesday afternoon. The Giants shut down the Bulldogs 3-0.
The Giants kicked off the game in a matter of minutes, wasting no time as Giants’ Alize San Juan scored from an assist by Amber Cole. The girls played hard in the first half, keeping the Bulldogs away from attempting any shots. Towards the end of the first half, the Giants started falling short of their plays and losing momentum. While the Giants didn’t finish as strong as they started, they were able to hold a 1-0 lead going into the second half.
Coming out of half time, the Giants and Bulldogs started more physically. Pushing and shoving through the Bulldogs defense, Cole and Lynea Rivera worked well together getting the ball down the line. With Giants’ Payten Ball and Jimena Rivera putting up two more goals, the Giants lead extended to 3-0. Rivera scored on an assist from Ball, then took a shot from the 30-yard line for the Giants’ final score.
