The College of Sequoias women’s soccer team suffered a game loss Friday afternoon against the Merced Blue Devils. The final score was 2-1.

The Giants wasted no time to kick off the start of the game. While the Giants were playing well defensively and aggressively, it wasn’t enough to stop the Blue Devils from scoring first. Giants Litsy Munoz, Jocelyn Arellano, Aubrey Salazar, and Lynea Rivera battled the Blue Devils as much as they could, working together to try and get the Giants on the board. The Giants were taking any opportunity to try and tie the game but the Blue Devils defense was able to contain the Giants.

Within the first three minutes of the second half, Giant’s America Lopez tied the game with an over-the-shoulder kick. Giant’s Salazar, Munoz, Lopez, and Gissel Mora made multiple attempts to take the lead but were unsuccessful each time. The Blue Devils were able to take the lead with a corner kick. The Giants didn’t let the lead of the Blue Devils get the best of them and fought till the end. Trying to find every last opportunity to tie the game, the Giants ultimately fell short of the win.
