The College of the Sequoias football team takes their first loss of the 2024-2025 season Saturday morning against American River College (ARC). The two teams moved the ball very efficiently, putting in over 300 yards a piece. In the first half of the game, ARC scored fast with a 35 yard touchdown, but the Giants quickly answered back when quarterback Reilly Garcia connected with Dalton Armbruster for a 9-yard touchdown, tying the game 7-7. Shortly after, ARC was able to put the ball back into the end zone, making the score 14-7. Right before halftime, Lucas Cords put the ball through the uprights, bringing the score to 14-10 in an extremely competitive game.
Heading into the third quarter was a completely different story. ARC quickly put up two touchdowns against the Giants’ struggling defense. Garcia had a good showing, completing 23 out of 44 passes with two touchdowns, though it wasn’t enough to keep up with the ARC’s Beaver. The Giants fell 35-18, though COS hopes to redeem their loss in San Francisco on September 14th, when they face off against San Francisco City College.
