Movies, Musicals, and Mixers: Upcoming Events

With around a month and a half left in the Spring semester, a time of preparation and celebration approaches for many students. Summer break for some, a new semester for others, graduations, transfers, and maybe even new jobs, are all events to look forward to as our schedules change alongside the weather. However, with all this anticipation coupled with the work from this semester, it means this period can also be particularly rife with stress, distractions, and feelings of lethargy. Luckily, there are quite a few upcoming events hosted by COS that aim to provide a bit more recreation, socialization, and communal support to students.

First up is the College of the Sequoias Spring Gala, hosted by the Student Senate on Friday, April 19, 7:00 PM-9:00 PM in the Moro Gym (COS Visalia Campus). Cocktail attire is requested for the theme of the event: “A Night At The Oscars”. This will be a dry event where proceeds benefit family services to support sexual abuse and sex trafficking victims. Tickets are $5 each and may be purchased through April 12th from the Visalia Student Activities Office, Tulare Building A, and Hanford HUB.

On April 16th from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM in Hospital Rock 134, COS will be hosting a Movies for Mental Health Workshop in association with the Art With Impact nonprofit. With the goal of fostering self-connection and social outreach through short films about Mental Health (this event will have a focus on Sexual Violence), there will also be support with connecting students to mental health resources. RSVP’s can be sent at https://bit.ly/m4mh-college-of-the-sequoias

Finally, we have the COS Theater’s production of Anastasia: The Musical, performed from April 25th to May 4th in the COS Theater. Visit https://cos.ticketleap.com/anastasia/dates for more info on pricing, times, and dates, as well as to purchase tickets.

Anastasia: The Musical is also available to be seen as a “Tea Party and Play” experience on May 4th, 11:00 AM-1:30 PM at the Porter Field House. Guests will be able to enjoy tea, finger foods, visits from cast members, and more at this special performance of the show. More information, as well as purchasing options for group tables and individual tickets, can all be found at: https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E191297&id=84
