Do you want to voice student concerns and be involved in the student body? Do you have strong leadership skills and a passion for organizing and hosting events? Becoming a COS Student Senate Officer might be right for you!

To become a Student Senate Officer, you must be enrolled in a minimum of nine units, maintain a GPA of at least 2.0, and have a valid Student ID Card with the Activity Benefits Sticker. Officers must also be enrolled in the COS Leadership classes, IS 212 and IS 213, for both the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters. These classes will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 11:10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Applications are due by Monday, April 18, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. Late applications will not be accepted.

To apply, fill out an election petition. Once that is done, email your election petition, candidate statement, and a photo to [email protected].

If packets do not contain all three items, they will not be accepted. The link to the petition can be found here. Applications aren’t due until the middle of April, but it doesn’t hurt to start early!

Once an application is submitted, the Student Activities and Affairs office will verify that the candidate meets all requirements and let accepted candidates know when they may begin campaigning.

Voting will happen on the Visalia Quad and online on Wednesday, April 27 and Thursday, April 28, 2022.

If you have any questions on the process of running for a Student Senate Officer position, call the Student Activities and Affairs Office at 730-3736.
