Music that speaks directly to the heart is coming to Visalia this weekend, as local Visalians and college singers come together to bring community members an amazing performance.
The Visalia Community Chorus is teaming up with College of the Sequoias Chamber Singers for a collaborative concert titled “Hope, Faith, Life, Love: Music of the Heart.” This performance will be at First Presbyterian Church of Visalia today, May 1 at 7 p.m.
The audience will hear beautiful harmonies along with moving solos, choir members say what’s happening behind the scenes is just as impactful. COS Singer Robert Rodriguez says “ The audience doesn’t think about the countless hours it takes trying to make connections with not only the piece itself but also with one another” still this is only one example of what’s happening behind the scenes.
The concert theme focuses on emotional connection and shared human experiences. Director John Sorber describes it as a piece that the audience as a whole can resonate with; the main focus being emotions experienced by the human heart. According to Sorber, this concert stands out from past performances because they had to “Learn this very quickly, that brought a new level of professionalism and focus.” Sorber noted that this concert will feature group acts along with solo performances, also a piece written by a local composer specifically for this event.
