At College of the Sequoias, many events are offered across the three campuses geared towards students. From jobs fairs to club rush, students at COS can find something to do no matter what their taste. We talked to several students on campus to see their favorite events and what they like about them.
Student, Elle Dawson says one of her favorite events to attend is the Tulare campus Fall Festival. Dawson says, “We have tons of different things (happening). There’s horse back riding there’s a petting zoo, and pumpkin selling and face painting. That one is really cool, it’s in October.” The Fall Festival takes place only on the Tulare campus.
While some students go to events in Tulare, there are several events at the COS campus in Visalia. Some events include the multiple job fairs held on the Visalia campus. Student Emanual Palos recites, “I’ve been to the job fair. What I like about the job fair is that you’re able to find different careers that you can find or choose.”
Another popular event is when Giant Threads helps style students on campus. The van is filled with clothes to help students look professional for internships or jobs. Tiffany Wainwright, a staff member with Giant Threads says, “We are a professional clothing closest. We offer any enrolled students at all three campuses a brand-new outfit for interviews or a networking event or an internship.” Wainwright adds, “Usually the way you get an outfit is you go through the transfer center, and you do a resume workshop and once you complete the resume workshop which is just an hour then they schedule an appointment to see us.”
Whether you’re on the Hanford, Tulare or Visalia campus, there are clubs or events to suit your needs. Just get out there and find them.
