Spy X Family Anime Release

With the arrival of April, not only is Spring Break on its way, but Crunchyroll’s Spring 2022 lineup is also starting soon. One anticipated anime that’s a part of its lineup is Spy X Family.

Spy X Family, a somewhat newer manga series released on Shonen Jump around 2019, is getting an anime with the upcoming release date being April 9th, 2022 on Crunchyroll’s streaming platform.

The story focuses on a relatively normal family of 3, Loid Forger the father, Yor Forger the mother, and Anya Forger the daughter. However, their family is not as normal as they appear.

Anya is a child with telepathy powers. Meaning she is able to read the minds and thoughts of other people around her. Yor, the mother, is a professional assassin with impeccable cleaning skills as a result of her profession, and Loid, the father, is a top spy. Tasked to carry out an operation that results in him having to form this “family” in the first place.

The formation of such a family was planned out by Loid when he was assigned to Operation Strix, an operation that involves him enrolling a child, preferably his, into an elite and prestigious school. However, this meant that Loid had to not only adopt a child to play the part as his kid, but he also had to find someone willing to marry him to be his wife. Given the fact that the school required the enrolled children to have both parents together.

Each family member (for the most part) are not aware of each other’s hidden identities and try to carry on through daily life, without revealing their own respective identities. How long can each member maintain their cover of being normal people in such a unique family? We’ll just have to wait and see as the anime episodes drop soon.

The manga, where the anime’s source material is pulled from, is currently still ongoing. So as of right now, (April 8th, 2022) it is not known how many volumes of the manga series will be covered in the anime adaptation.
