College of the Sequoias does a great job addressing an issue facing modern college students today: rising food costs. Students attending college should be more focused on finishing their education, not how they’re going to get their next meal. COS has taken the initiative and have rose to the occasion to address this issue by offering students half-off food. This is a great benefit for the diverse student body that populates the COS campus. Even students with dietary needs don’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, as the Giant Grill and cafe offers easily customizable food options for every dietary need. This gives students the steady flow of energy they need to get through long classes and intense study sessions. Additionally, this perk relieves some financial stress on some students, allowing them to allocate their finances to school supplies.
The discounted food prices have a positive impact on students, including Jesus Llamas, a 3rd-year COS student. Llamas stated, “It’s good because it helps a lot of students, not just myself. It helps save money and allocate the rest of that money to other necessities for the school year such as textbooks.” Although each students situation is different, but the resource is excellent for any student regardless of financial situation. For most students, like 1st-year COS student Jesus Cameras, he simply summarized the feelings of most, “It’s great!”
