Rory Asari

Rory Asari, Campus Staff Writer

Rory Asari is a journalism major here at College of the Sequoias with the intention to transfer to a university and major in film. Asari grew up in Tulare, California as an only child who spent most of his time alone or with his friends. By day Asari as a child would play different sports like football and basketball with his friends outside, while his nights were spent watching a movie or T.V. show with his mom. Once he entered high school, he decided to give tennis a shot which quickly became a regular occurrence along with playing basketball or hanging out at one of the friend’s houses after school. Throughout high school, Rory kept straight A’s and was on the tennis team for all four years.

Originally attending college to major in engineering, Asari had a change of heart after just one semester, realizing that his desires and interests didn’t align with his major. Feeling lost and unmotivated, Asari spent the next few years trying to find a passion. Over this short period, he realized that his lifelong interest in watching movies for fun or to pass the time was a lot more significant than he could have imagined. Subsequently, Asari dove into film learning about the different techniques and aspects. This led Asari to the natural decision to pursue film professionally as a video editor, which has landed him back into the arms of COS and a part of the Journalism team!
