The College of Sequoias Men’s soccer team is celebrating its first win of the 2024 – 2025 season. The team played against Feather River College on Friday evening. The Giants stormed the field and stayed strong during the entre first half. The Giants attempted 5 shots but came up short. Although they did not score, the Giants defense held their ground with 3 saves. The Giants kept possession for most of the half leaving the score 0-0.
When the second half started, the Giants picked up right where they left off, keeping the ball in FRC territory. The Giants attempted two more shots until #10 Jonathan Isaiah Ibarra was fouled. Ibarra attempted a penalty shot but the FRC goalie deflected it. That didn’t stop Ibarra who put the ball through the net and the crowd erupted. After the goal with 32 minutes remaining in the game, the Giants’ defense was able to keep the Golden Eagles from scoring and the Giants got their first win of the season with a final score of 1 – 0
Men’s soccer is on the road for the next two games when they face Los Angeles City (8/27) and Cabrillo (8/30) before returning home against Canyons (9/3).
