The Giant Threads Program is a free service that provides any currently enrolled students with business attire for job interviews, job fairs, networking events, and new jobs. The great part is that you get to keep the clothing and can request the service once every semester.
The program was created for the sole purpose of helping students increase their odds of getting a job or interview. It allows students to obtain professional clothing purchased by COS and works closely with the COS Career Services Center to help students build their resumes and refine their interview skills. Students participating will be given mock interviews and styling help.
Giant Threads Visalia has been around since 2021 and recently moved into an entire building to better service the students. The stylists there can dress students and help them find the right outfit for all body types and genders. Once the student picks out their outfit, they get to take a professional photo for their LinkedIn profile picture which will be emailed to their student email address at a later time.
Tiffany Wainwright has worked in the fashion industry for over 16 years. Her time as a fashion instructor for COS has allowed her to understand student needs when it comes to interviewing. Wainwright says, “I feel it is so important that the students have a brand-new outfit whenever possible.” She states that when you look good, you feel confident.
Mary Vargas, Giant Threads assistant, says that current COS fashion students who work at the store get hands-on experience such as pressing the clothing, the fundamentals of running a store, making displays, and learning about styling clothing.
The program can only be successful if students know about the great things that are being offered. Spread the word. Giant Threads is a free program that not only dresses you for success but offers you that extra step to land that job.
