Did you know that Visalia has a variety of transit routes you can take all over the city? They range from the Green Line, to the Sequoia Shuttle, V-line, Greyhound, Dial-A-Ride, to TCAT. What if I told you it is a cheaper way to get around without wasting your gas? Visalia Transit center, located in the heart of downtown Visalia, serves a hub of buses traveling to and from Exeter, Farmersville, Tulare, and Porterville. With 13 bus routes available, you can easily reach your destination. The main route most people use is route one, from the transit station, down Mooney to the Government Plaza, and back to the transit center. College of the Sequoia works with the Visalia Transit to make sure students get to campus on time for their classes. They also give students transit bus passes to obtain for the spring, summer, and fall semester.
Students must pay the transit fee at the cashiers office located at the south building across from the Financial Aid Office next to the Welcome Center, no more than $10 dollars for each student. Take your receipt with you as you will need it when heading to the Student Activities and Affairs Office (SAA) next to the COS bookstore for the sticker. Make sure you have your ID with you, and if you would like to get one, the SAA can also help you with that. I had asked one of the workers at the Visalia Transit about students taking the bus to school. He says, “It’s a very cheap way for transportation to school. Not just for school, but jobs as well.” He also says, “It saves them money instead of paying out of pocket on gas. The transit helps everyone out.”
