Disney Funds Florida Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill, CEO Chapek Releases a Statement

For many people who have been a fan of Disney creations and involvement of the growing community of all kinds, there has been a lot of controversy recently due to Disney’s comments about the LGBTQ+ community.

In the first few weeks of March, LGBTQ+ communities have kept their eyes on Disney when a select group noticed their funding of anti-LGBTQ+ politicians in Florida.

As Florida has enacted what the Internet calls the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, to prevent schools and media from using any LGBTQ+ terminology.

This funding left an outrage in the community where a member of the Disney family, Abigail Disney, spoke out on Twitter about the company’s lobbying.

CEO Bob Chapek addressed the community with a statement that said, “I want to be crystal clear: I and the entire leadership team unequivocally stand in support of our LGBTQ+ employees, their families, and their communities. And, we are committed to creating a more inclusive company — and world…”

Due to the company’s large stake in Florida, specifically in Disney World Orlando, it’s rumored that the company will continue to fund these anti-LGBTQ+ politicians.

Chapek later stated that they will continue to discuss this issue further at the Reimagine Tomorrow Summit, set to take place in April.
