Scam Alert: Email Scams Targeting COS Students

Students are asked to not reply or click links left on the emails and to report the email to Campus Police at (559)730-3999

Campus Police have reported that numerous scam emails are going out to students. The emails appear to be from a COS Staff claiming that a professor is looking for a part time assistant, usually with a link. The owner of the email will also ask about banking information or ask students to buy gift cards for a UNICEF charity.

The emails appear to be from a @giant.cos.edu address and typically look like this:

“I am a staff in the college, a professor shared me this link for anyone interested in a part time personal assistant job to make up to $300 weekly,

Students are asked to not reply or click links left on the emails and to report the email. Any information about the emails or about who is sending these emails should also contact Campus Police. Campus Police can be reached at (559) 730-3999.
