After a long semester of early classes, part-time jobs, endless assignments, weeks of caffeine, late-night study sessions, and group projects that could test anyone’s patience, Thanksgiving break is finally here—and students at College of the Sequoias couldn’t be more ready.
For many, the plan is simple: take a breather, eat good food, and catch up on much-needed sleep. One student joked that they’re “Most thankful for not having to set an alarm for a few days.” Since many students live nearby, heading home for a family feast is a big part of the plan. Others are planning small get-togethers with friends, complete with home-cooked meals, board games and maybe a few too many slices of pie.
Some are using the time to relax before finals, binge-watch favorite shows, or catch up on work hours before the end of the year. “I say I’ll get ahead on homework, but let’s be honest, I probably won’t.” Others are taking the opportunity to rest and recharge before the start of finals week. Some students said their main plan is to “do absolutely nothing productive for a few days” after the stress of midterms, calling the break a well-deserved chance to reset.
No matter how students spend their week —traveling, working, or just staying cozy at home —everyone agrees that a break from classes is something to be thankful for.
So this Thanksgiving, may your plates be full, your Wi-Fi strong, and your group projects miraculously finish themselves. Happy Thanksgiving to you from the Campus Journal here at College of the Sequoias. Please be safe and make good decisions.
