It has been an explosive season for our COS Men’s Basketball team. The Giants started back in November 2023, and since then, they have had an amazing run of great performances this period. Overall, the Men’s team sits at a 14-4 record.
While the Giants continue their fight for the conference title, a brand-new head coach is leading the team with these great performances. Dallas Jensen, who was hired in Spring 2024, is the head coach for the Men’s team. Coach Jensen brings an impressive resume with him, as he was the former head coach for Gavilan College. At Gavilan College, Coach Jensen’s overall record was 51-8! According to his COS school profile, Coach Jensen states; “The biggest thrill I get from coaching at the community college level is to see my players move on.”
On the court, the Giants have found a star in #10 Jose Cuello. Cuello is a sophomore guard, coming from Harlem, NY. In the season so far, Cuello has scored 380 points in the seasonal games, averaging 20 points per game. Also having a great season is #02 Omari Nebil, who has scored 240 points and averages 12 points per game. All around, the Giants have been dominating on the court and it has paid off.
However, as the season moves along, the Giants sit at the 3rd overall standing, with a 14-4 record, in the CVC Men’s Basketball Conference. After an eventful weekend, the standings changed, with Merced College sitting at the top of the standings, Columbia College at the second seed, both with a 17-3 record. Followed by our Giants at the 3rd seed.
The next home game for the Giants will be Wednesday January 31st, against Reedley City College. Come out and show your support for the Men’s basketball team.
