If you’re struggling with how to use Microsoft Word or Google Docs, the College Language Center is here to help you! Located in College of the Sequoias Visalia campus Educational Support Services building, or the ESS building, the Language Center has been offering weekly workshops to assist students in a variety of ways.
For example, the Language Center hosts weekly workshops where students can come in and get help with all things tech! At these workshops, students sit in a safe judgment-free room with other students, just as eager to learn. Senior Instructional Specialist, Maria Carmona, is one of many to conduct presentations on how to use popular office tools. During workshop time, students follow Carmona’s lead as she explains what you need to know about Microsoft Word and Google Docs. There is also 1-on-1 assistance available in the Language Center, if students need the extra help!
Not only does the Language Center offer weekly workshops, but tutors also host activities and competitions that students can participate in. One competition is a typing competition; here students are timed and pumped up with inspiring music as they type away. The Language Center also hosts a Friday Funday on the last Friday of every month! These fun days include music, board games and other English-based games and activities.
If you’ve been struggling with English class, or maybe you’re not familiar with Microsoft Word, be sure to stop by the Language Center. Carmona wants students to know that, “We’re here to help students with any kind of language; if you’re coming from another country we’ll try our best to make you feel at home.”
