Giants, it’s that time at the end of the semester that every student is dreading: final exams. With our schedules getting busier and all our classes in full swing, it is extremely easy to fall into the trap of academic burn-out. During the busy final exam season, the Campus Journal asked students how they stay sane during these stressful times.
Shatha Hussein, a Theater and Biology Major at COS, gave the Campus Journal simple advice for the hustle and bustle of exam season. “I’ll try my best, and if it’s not the result I wanted, then I remember that one of my simple goals in life is to never give up and keep on going.” Shatha reminds students to also always ask for help if they need it! Help is always available via the Educational Services Building on the COS Visalia Campus. From Math to Writing, the ESS building has your back.
Another student, Megan Bentley, who is Liberal Arts student, deals with exams by following the Pomodoro Study method while listening to Lo-Fi music. “I also really enjoy walking and immersing myself in nature when I can, I find it really grounding.” Bentley also cited.
Finally, English student, Ashlyn West shares her insight on test stress. West says to always take brain breaks, and to not focus on studying and schoolwork for hours on end.
While finals, essays, and exams are swamping students everywhere on campus this season, it’s important to relax, reboot, and recharge. Finals are fortunately temporary; your physical and mental well-being have a lasting impact!
