On the College of the Sequoias Hanford Campus, a blood drive was held on Oct. 31. The Central California Blood Center set up its mobile command center outside in the open quad area of the COS Hanford Campus. Student Services Specialist Maria Torres Mosqueda, along with other staff members and student workers, organized and worked the event. Drives like this are a great opportunity both for the cause of The Central California Blood Center, and because not many students are aware of the services the COS Hanford Campus provides and participates in.
The main purpose was in hopes of giving back to the community and those who are in need of a blood donor. Maria planned on donating herself, and hopes more people follow in her footsteps and help save a life by donating blood. Maria expressed that she feels others may be scared to donate, mainly because they have never done it before. When asked about what she would say to those with hesitations, she replied “Not to be scared”.
