The College of the Sequoias Men’s soccer team added another win to the first half of their conference season Friday evening. The Giants shut out Lemoore College 6-0.
Striking first, Giants’ Yahir Ramos wasted no time in getting the team on the board. The Giants defense used their heads (literally) to bunt in another goal. They worked well together passing all along the field, extending the lead with another two goals. With two different assists from Jerardo Coronel to Edward Perez and then Jose Fabian Sandoval to Jairo Medina, the Giants were up 4. The Giants put up good defense in the first half, keeping Lemoore out of Giants territory.
“We started off really well. Obviously 3 goals in the first 4 minutes was a great start from us. Full 90 minutes, the last couple games we either played good in the first half or second half today was a full game. Very proud of the boys today.” stated head coach Abraham Campos.
Trying to keep the same energy they had in the first half, Giants wasted no time trying to continue adding to their lead despite the Giants struggling to follow through with their passes. Finding the flaws in Lemoore’s defense, Giants’ Medina extends the lead once again with a straight shot into the goal. With the final goal of the evening, Ramos wraps the game on a penalty kick, ending 6-0.
Campos added, “This is the first round of conference, for the second round will be tough. We lost the first games back-to-back so hopefully with this win kind of brings us to our peak and allows us to match up with Merced and Taff coming up. We just need to keep working and hopefully we’re ready for the next games.”
