The College of the Sequoias Men’s soccer team shut out the Monterey Peninsula Lobos Friday afternoon, 7–0.
Kicking off the game, Giants were forced to put up a fight. Right off the bat, the Lobos defense were on top of the Giants, not allowing any play throughout the first 30 minutes of the first half. But in the last 10 minutes, the Lobos defense was no hold for Giants Jesus Martinez and Alejandro Morales, as they put up the first goal of the afternoon. Wasting no time after getting on the board, Edward Perez scored extending the Giants lead 2–0. Finally, Joshua Urista Herrera put up the final goal of the first half with a minute left on the clock . The Giants walked into half time up 3–0.
In the second half of the game, the Giants exploded. The aggression had risen on both, but the Giants were able to take control of the remaining time in the game, meshing seamlessly and scoring four goals this half. Irvin Espinoza was the first to score, followed by Yahir Ramos, scoring off a failed head bunt from another teammate to put the Giants up 5–0. Both Herrera and Ramos score once again leading the Giants to run away with the win, 7–0
