As the semester kicks off, many students are pulled in different directions. Some have full-time or part-time jobs, some students are raising families, and others may be doing those two things simultaneously. Students who find it difficult to shift through college may find that the Welcome Center is able to offer some assistance.
The Welcome Center is located in Sequoia Building Room 104. As you enter their room, you are greeted by an experienced staff member who is there to help assist you with services such as: COS Admissions, FASFA applications, activating or resetting your MyGiant account, navigating your BannerWeb to add or drop classes, class searches, or help with registration.
The Welcome Center also has laptops for students to use when completing such tasks as ordering transcripts or financial aid appeals. They also offer outreach service requests and campus tours.
One of the programs recommended is the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS). The EOPS program may be able to help students with academic, financial, and personal counseling. Students who meet the program criteria may qualify for benefits like textbook vouchers, priority registration, tutorial referrals, and even field trips to CSU’s, UC’s, and private universities. Additionally, there is an EOPS student grant for those who enroll and meet the requirements.
Juggling college should be one of the last things a student should worry about. If you would like more information on EOPS and many more programs that are not listed here, you can visit the Welcome Center located in the Sequoia Building in Room 104, call (559) 730-3730, or visit their website at:

Our number one goal is to get you a college certificate, degree, or transfer. Per state legislation (AB 705/1805), all students have the right to bypass remedial courses and register directly into transfer level coursework. Colleges shall use evidence-based multiple measures for placing students into English-as-a-second language (ESL) coursework. The Visalia Campus Welcome Center is the first stop for many students and college guests.
