The College of the Sequoias Men’s Baseball team hosted West Hills Coalinga Thursday afternoon in game two of their three-game series. While it seemed the Giants were going to take a 2-0 lead on the series, the Falcons came out victorious. The final score was 5-3.
The Giant’s starting pitcher Alex Hernandez pitched 5.2 innings, had 5 strikeouts, one walk, and only allowed two earned runs that came in the 6th inning. However, these two runs from the Falcons happened long after the Giants were up by two.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Giants grabbed the lead early due to a single plus error on the Falcons pitcher. In the bottom of the 4th inning, Giants Kanani Judd-Au singles up the middle to bring home Giants Daniel Coronado. The Giants had the lead 2-0.
The 6th inning rolled around, and the Falcons tied the game with a double and a ground out to third basemen.
The Giants Benjamin Rodriguez put up the final run of the afternoon in the bottom of the 7th with a single bring-in Giants Alex Lopez. The Falcons scored two more runs in the top of the 9th, winning 5-3.
The Giants’ pitching was the star of the game, but it was not enough to fight off the Falcons.
