College of the Sequoias’ Cheerleaders Are National Champs!

On the weekend of Feb. 25 through 27, the College of the Sequoias’ cheerleading team attended the 2022 USA Collegiate Championships in Anaheim, CA. In close matches, the cheer team and our mascot Timber secured awards under the college’s name.

They competed against four-year institutions and College of the Sequoias was the only community college in the competition.

“We competed amongst some of the best of the best tonight and we’re the ONLY junior college in our divisions,” They wrote in a tweet on the COS Cheer Twitter, “We’re walking away with a 3rd place in Situational Sideline. These GIANTS put on a show tonight and showed everyone what COS is all about.”

The celebration doesn’t stop there; the school’s mascot Timber won first place in the College mascot division for the 2022 National title.

“This victory is important to us because it’s our main event. Compared to other sports, we don’t compete against our cheer teams.” said Ashley Sanchez, one of the team’s captains.

Congratulations to both Timber and College of the Sequoia’s cheerleading team.
