Studying Abroad? Here Are Some Tips and Tricks
tips and tricks that I have used since I’m currently studying from outside the U.S. Due to Covid-19
Imagine going to study in Italy or going somewhere like Cancun, sounds interesting right? And especially now that classes are going to be online for the semester and probably next semester as well. If you are going out of the country, here are a couple of tips that may help and things you may need to consider.
Know that just because you are outside of the country on vacation or visiting family, which is not recommended, it’s important for you to know that it’s your responsibility to keep track of classes and classwork that you should be doing. I will be giving you some tips and tricks that I have used since I’m currently studying from outside the U.S. Due to Covid-19 I had to relocate back to my home country Costa Rica.
The first thing I did was make sure that I set up the correct times for my classes. Why is this important? If you are traveling, it’s important to know which timezone you are in, for example, I’m currently in Costa Rica, and I know that my schedule is two hours ahead of the time in California, so I had to make sure that I set up my calendar to the correct times.
The second thing I did was to set up a study zone where you can be alone without any interruptions, and concentrate on your classes and college work. This can change depending on your destination. This brings me to my third recommendation, make sure that you have access to a computer and a good and stable internet connection. Students often get dropped from their classes and/or grades are lowered because they missed a few days of their classes, therefore it’s important to know where you are going to study. I bought a portable laptop and a webcam to be able to take my zoom classes. Following a few of these steps might help you study and keep a good track of your classes and grades.
