Will We Be Seeing Another Round Of Stimulus Checks?
On Thursday evening, the House of Representatives passed the HEROS Act 2.0 stimulus package as the Coronavirus pandemic looms on. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean people will get another check in their pockets soon, as it’s rather unlikely the bill will actually pass.
Timing suggests that similar to the original HEROS Act and the Skinny Bill, drawn up in May and early September, respectively; these proposals are not moving forward. It’s been suggested that these packages are merely to aid parties campaigning and even with the knowledge of minimal chance to pass; both want to make sure they are representing a front of aid to the people.
Yet, after the agreement on the newest stimulus package, the House is scheduled for a break that will further push off an actual agreement. According to senate schedules, the outline for a pass would mean senate would need to vote by October 9th and with many disagreements still standing between the two parties, it means that we are in for another wait that will aid many out of dire financial struggles.
In fact, as we get closer to Election Day, November 3, Congress’ time is running short to agree on a bill and allow time for the President to sign, as the senate would need to vote by October 31 to make the act official.
So, what does this mean for the majority of the population who are looking for another stimulus boost? Well, not much. As with the other proposed packages over the last six months, the HEROS Act 2.0 will likely just be another proposal left on the shelf.
However, one thing is certain, that is that both major parties do agree that another stimulus check is needed to boost the economy. We are just left to question when this will actually happen.
