On October 22nd, College of the Sequoias Agriculture Department’s Annual Harvest Fest turned out to be a successful event! The event featured hayrides, horseback rides, a petting zoo, food trucks, a pumpkin sale and raffle, face painting and a costume contest for all the little kids. Many of the directors and students all said that this year’s Harvest Fest turned out to have an even bigger turn out than last year. With the many activities offered at the festival, families had a plethora of options to choose from. Including face painting, which both children and adults alike enjoyed! The Harvest Fest even featured a pumpkin decorating table with stickers and googly eyes for kids to use to make their own pumpkins unique.
The top three winners of the festival’s costume contest earned a pumpkin! Belle from Beauty and the Beast won the first pumpkin, Rumi from K-Pop Demon Hunters won the second pumpkin and the third pumpkin went to Boo from Monsters Inc. As for the other participants they all received free candy!
A student from the Ag Department was also happy about the Harvest Fest’s turnout sharing, “I would definitely say this was a much bigger turn out than last year. Especially in the costumes, there’s so many kids dressed up in costumes we only had a line of 15 last year. It’s a really big turnout, I think our OH (Ornamental Horticulture) Club is going to have a really awesome turnout for their club’s fundraiser, same with our Equine Club.”
The petting zoo featured pigs, a sheep and her two lambs and two cows this year and many of the guests were all enjoying their time with them. There were especially a lot of people forming crowds and lines for the horseback rides on the Equine Club’s horses and the hayride. Many families got to enjoy rides around the Tulare Campus’ Farm on the hayride while most of the other children were enjoying a calm horseback ride around the bullpen.
While the humans had costumes of their own, so did the horses. There were even some horses resting in their stables and their handlers allowed people to come over to see them and pet them. Overall this year’s Harvest Fest at the Tulares Campus was a successful event and many of the guests, students and faculty look forward to any future events held by the Tulare Campus’Agriculture Department.
