The Giants volleyball team entered their game this past Wednesday winners of 3 straight, winning all those games 3-0. Their opponent, the Rams of Fresno City College, came into the game winners of five straight game winning all their games 3-0 as well. The rivalry game brought fans from all over the Central Valley as the gym was packed with fans. The first two games were back and forth and highly intense, and the Giants ended up taking them 25-21, and 26-24. The Giants, who were up 2-0, took a step back as the Rams stormed ahead, taking the third and fourth sets comfortably by the scores of 25-16 and 25-15.
By the fifth set, everyone was on their feet cheering loudly and proudly for their teams. Late in the set momentum was going back and forth through each team. With the Giants down they were seeking to even up the game, however a crucial play in the game resulted in a point for the Rams and they rode off momentum to the win.
The Rams took the fifth set 15-12, resulting in a well-fought game for the Giants. Ai-Lani Hunter led the Giants with 21 kills on the evening, Allison Wood finished with 32 digs, a team high and Molly Forehan led the Giants with 29 assists.
The Giants’ next game is away at Clovis Community College on Friday, October 24th at 6 p.m. GO GIANTS!
