On Saturday, the Giants were victorious once again for a second straight week defeating College of the Redwoods at home 41-21. Unlike past weeks, the Giants offense was able to score quickly and often in the first quarter. In just five plays, Payton Faker was able to find Gage Armbruster for a twelve-yard touchdown pass. Faker and Armbruster’s connection has been lethal from the start of season for the Giants. Minutes later, the Giants defense found the endzone as Wendell Ware intercepted the ball and returned it 52 yards for a Giant touchdown.
Later in the first quarter, Faker found Dontae Gentles for an 18-yard touchdown, giving the Giants a big lead in the first quarter 20-0. In the second quarter, the Corsairs responded quickly with two touchdowns of their own, cutting the lead just to six for the Giants. The Giants finished out the second quarter with a one-yard rushing touchdown from Mookie Gosby, and an 8-yard receiving touchdown from O’Bryan Flaniga.
The third quarter was quite the opposite from the first half where no team had any points, however late in the fourth quarter the Corsairs scored a touchdown coming out of the 2-minute warning. The Giants, comfortable with their lead, checked the backups into the game and scored with less than 30 seconds left. Quarterback Caden Dawes found receiver Wyatt Boyd in the endzone for a seven-yard passing touchdown.
The Giants are back at home again this week to take on a tough unbeaten Butte team here at Sequoias Stadium, on September 27th at 11 a.m.
