Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, playing the leading roles of Lorraine and Ed Warren, have always been the emotional backbone of the franchise even to this day. The actors’ chemistry reaches unparalleled heights in Last Rites. Farmiga brings deep sensitivity and unshakeable strength in her portrayal of Lorraine, while Wilson portrays Ed being more determined than he’s ever been in regards to his family’s safety while showing displays of warmth and strong acts in practicing his faith. Together the actors delivered a love story wrapped in terror between the two characters. The film also traces the origins of their investigations almost like a documentary blended with a supernatural drama.
Last Rites honors everything that made the series special while giving fans a finale that they have waited for. The storyline made sense and even interconnected with the previous films, featuring characters from the previous films, one of those characters included Annabelle. This film showcases fear, horror, the importance of family, faith, love and having the courage to face your fears. This is a must see film that resonates deeply, filled with moments of suspense and excitement.
