A part-time College of the Sequoias biology professor has been fired for “off-color inappropriate comments” he made about the recent death of Charlie Kirk. The college fired him officially yesterday on September 16th, after a four day investigation.
COS spokesperson, Lauren Fishback commented, “We just had to follow some legal protocol to make sure that we were in compliance,”. Fishback continued saying, “On Sept. 12th, our human resources, along with our college leadership got together to discuss what the plan was because this person is a part-time faculty, they also have a union, and they have a union contract. So, we had to make sure that whatever our action plan was or is, that we were following appropriate protocol based on their contract as well.”
College of the Sequoias president, Brent Calvin, previously released this statement to the COS community…
“College of the Sequoias is aware that one of its part-time faculty members made inappropriate comments surrounding Charlie Kirk’s unfortunate passing. Human Resources along with Senior Management is following appropriate District protocol to address the concerns. As of September 12th, the faculty has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation, and a full-time faculty has taken over those courses.
The safety, well being, and educational success of our students are the top priorities for College of the Sequoias. The District takes concerns, issues, and grievances seriously and works towards quick resolution that is in our student’s best interest.”
