The College of the Sequoias football team secured their first win of the 2025-2026 season this past Saturday afternoon against American River College (ARC). During the 1st quarter the Beavers took a 10-0 lead over the Giants, with a passing touchdown as well as a 23-yard field goal.
In the second quarter, the Giants offense woke up quarterback Payton Faker found receiver Gage Armbruster in the end-zone for the first touchdown of the Giants season. A minute later, the Giants found the end-zone again but this time it was the defense, linebacker Pana Tuputala intercepted a pass and returned it 26 yards for another Giants touchdown. The Giants defense had a nose for takeaways in which they forced three interceptions, two for Pana Tuputala and one for defensive back Wendell Ware.
In the second half Payton Faker found Gage Armbruster yet again in the end-zone for a 21-yard touchdown pass. Armbruster finished with a team high six receptions on 82 yards and two touchdowns, Faker finished with 185 yards through the air with 2 touchdowns, and running back Jahkylle Smith finished with 74 yards rushing on 19 carries.
The Giants defeated American River College 21-13, the Giants hope to make it two straight victories as they head back home and play their home opener against San Francisco City College at Sequoias Stadium, September 6th at 11 a.m.
