Arriving to school in the morning in a rush and trying to find parking is a huge problem. Some of the parking lots at College of the Sequoias at the Visalia campus are closed because of construction. This makes it even harder for students to find a spot. Driving around often wastes time and makes students late, this means that they miss out upcoming assignments or important. This is why they should speed up construction time, especially since the new school year started. I believe that this construction should have started in the summer, so this wouldn’t be a problem and students will find parking spots and won’t be late to class.
We interviewed some COS students about the parking issue and here’s what they have said .
“It’s really hard to get spot” says COS student Monica Hengst, “You can spend 10 to 20 minutes in your car driving around looking for a spot but there are none. I’ve heard that you need to be here by 7:30 a.m. to find a place to park your car after 9 a.m. there are no spots available because they closed a big part of the parking.”
Another COS student, Abdul al Quraishi, thinks that the parking has really decreased compared to how it was before the construction. He added “It’s not a good time for construction, why not during the summer holiday’s?” And he finished the interview with “it’s expensive for students to get a permit for 25 dollars” and he proposed 10 dollar fee for the semester is a good price.
According to the COS website, parking permits for students will be required for the 2025 Fall semester starting on August 25, 2025. Students may park in any parking lot with white parking space markings with a valid digital student parking permit. Student parking permits will be available for purchase online for $25.00 at cos.cmrpay.com beginning on July 21, 2025.
