Running the social media accounts for the Campus Newspaper can be a time consuming job. Not only do you have to catch events as they are happening but you also have to stay on top of notifications and messages.

Luckily, working together with other members on the staff can make things run a lot smoother.

Reposting and advertising new articles written by our other staff members is a big part of running the socials. This attracts attention to interesting or timely articles that need to be seen sooner rather than later. Our multimedia editor, Ashley Cortez, has been a big help with this. She creates graphics with eye-catching colors and photos that really bring interest to the articles.

Another important role of the social media editor is to promote ideas other staff members come up with. Recently our opinion and copy editor Daria Smith came up with a “Nature Around Campus” photo series. Here, we post nature pictures from around campus with small informational bios describing what’s pictured.

The final and most important role of the social media editor is to capture students around campus, whether it’s a short mug and quote interview or coverage of a club/sporting event. This is the most important field of coverage because you only get one chance to capture what you need.

To check out all the hard-work we’ve put in this semester check out our website, where all our articles are posted. And to stay in the loop about events going on around campus, check out our socials here.
