With a five-game win streak, the softball squad readies to defend its Central Valley Conference (CVC) championship crown.

To kick-off the league slate, Reedley comes to COS Thursday at noon and Fresno City drives south for a doubleheader Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sacramento City slides in for a non-league game Friday at 2 p.m.

According to Coach Cori Janelli, the ladies have used timely hitting and the right arm of Ari Guzman to show marked improvement.

“We did get off to a slow start,” Janelli said, “but we’re getting better every game. We’re stringing our hits together and Ari has been pitching well.”

During the streak, Jenna Reyes hit .466 with six runs scored, Audra Pratt hit .390 with seven RBI and, Sam Martinez scored six runs to go with a homerun and five ribbies. Guzman chipped in five complete game wins 32 strikeouts from the mound.

The streak, Janelli said, “really helps us build confidence before we start conference.”
