Welcome to our monthly entertainment brief! Every month, we will provide you with a quick rundown of the movies, music, and television expected to come out this month.

 

It’s September, so this month, we’ll start to see a few horror movies trickle through before the flood of blood and gore in October. There’s also a revival of the Predator franchise slated for release this month. Matthew McConaughey stars in White Boy Rick which is a drama about a white kid entering the world of Detroit gang life. At the end of the month, we also have a comedy with Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish in Night School. Here are the rest of the movies:

This month we have a combination of older musicians and newer musicians. Rock legend and former Beatle Paul McCartney released an album against controversial Lil’ Pump of “Gucci Gang” fame. Lenny Kravitz also releases an album alongside electronic musician David Guetta and long-time pop star Cher releases an album on the same day as rap artist Logic. It sure is quite the month for juxtaposition. Here are the albums:

  • Carrie Underwood: Cry Pretty – September 14
  • David Guetta: 7 – September 14

  • Lil Pump: Harverd Dropout – September 14
  • Young Thug: Slime Language – September 14
  • BROCKHAMPTON: iridescence – September 21
  • Josh Groban: Bridges – September 21’
  • Cher: Dancing Queen – September 28
  • Logic: Young Sinatra IV – September 28
  • Kanye: YANDHI – September 29

 

This month in television sees It’s Always Sunny come back without the prolific Glenn Howerton as “Dennis”. It returns for its 13th season with fellow FX show American Horror Story taking on the Apocalypse in its eighth season. BoJack Horseman returns for its fifth season on Netflix: The show has been hailed and acclaimed for its humor and discussion of mental illness. We finally see the month end with the Fox families returning. The Simpsons comes back for its 30th season alongside Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy. Here’s the rest of the TV shows coming back:

That wraps up our entertainment brief for this month. It is also worth noting that Gucci Mane, Lil’ Yachty, and Migos are expected to release a collaboration, Lil Uzi Vert is expected to release his second album, and alt band X Ambassadors have looked at releasing another album as well. However, none of those albums have been confirmed to release this month.
